Available practice: 76 of 80 marks. Parts 10(c) await marking support. Scores cover available parts only. Theory: answer each printed part. For drawings, upload a clear photo of your sketch on the supplied figure; show working and units for calculations.

Fig. 1.1 shows the speed–time graph for a car travelling on a straight horizontal road.

(a)Describe the motion of the car shown in Fig. 1.1.

Answer guidance

Describe Say what happens, in order. Reasons are not required unless the question also asks why.

[2 marks]

(b)(i)At t = 10 s the engine is switched off; the brakes are not applied. Name two forces that cause the change in motion after t = 10 s.

Answer guidance

State A short answer. No explanation is needed, and adding one cannot earn extra marks.

[1 mark]

(b)(ii)Suggest why Fig. 1.1 is a curve after t = 10 s.

Answer guidance

Suggest More than one answer may be acceptable, so long as it is consistent with the physics.

[1 mark]

(c)(i)Between t = 10 s and t = 20 s the car speed changes from 18 m/s to 11 m/s. Its mass is 1200 kg. Calculate its change in momentum in this time. Give the unit.

Answer guidance

Calculate Show your working. The method can earn marks even when the final value is wrong, and a bare answer often cannot.
